Haartmanninkatu 4, 00290 Helsinki The artist Kalevi Jokinen recieved the joint 1st prize in Wetterhoff 120th anniversary competition 2005, class "public places" 2nd prize in Wetterhoff 120th anniversary competition 2005, class "private homes" The idea I had may prove weak, but it always leaves a trace. Which may then prove durable and become the starting point for a new work of art. Like a whisper; nothing but the colour black and the counter-light; in fact this means the last breath. Or actually the first. We cannot define them or separate the first one from the last without giving them a meaning which they do not in themselves possess. A black pane, vibrationless. A square, or two pieces of land. Black soft earth, sweet and painful. Above everything, a dazzling joy. We all owe ourselves that much. Only that measure of infinity. Full. For emptying. You can only go from darkness to light - and back - in order to see. |
